Introduction and Aerosol Retrieval Exercises with Increasing Resolution | What is MODIS? Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer; another view.
The MODIS instruments are on the AQUA and TERRA satellites in the NASA A-train. Example MODIS raw imagery: Reno and surrounding area. Exercise: find the MODIS true color image for your birthday in 2012; left half of room MODIS from the Terra satellite, right half from the MODIS instrument on the Aqua satellite. Notice and record the time of the image by looking at the 'metadata' file. We will informally discuss these in class. Aerosol Terms Reference Sheet Paper on the MODIS Aerosol Retrieval Algorithm (read).
